Imagenheart is very excited to announce that Sabrina Linder is the designer within the Spelonk film and series. She is has won various awards as fashion designer including Foschini design award. Below follows a word from Sabrina about involvement with Spelonk
Spelonk has been such an incredible inspiration to my work as it comments on issues that are very close to my heart, such as globalisation and the depletion of our natural resource. I have found it highly fascinating taking a sneak peak into the looking glass of what could very well be the future of South Africa and the world.
Whats most exciting about working on Spelonk is the opportunity to visually shape a new world through conceptual design and wardrobe, to work with no creative restraints allowing my mind to expand and explore new highs of mental stimulation. To be able to create elaborate costume designed pieces that each tells a story of their own.
Essentially what has been my greatest inspiration in the designs for Spelonk is my ongoing affair with nomadic dress both historically and in contemporary fashion. It’s a theme that has always been present in my work which is evident in several of my collections as well as my final year collection “Nomad” which inspired my historical dissertation on the nomadic Tibetans of the Tibetan autonomous regions. Naturally this lead to more in-depth research of other nomadic dwellers and soon a close link was developed between the nomadic way of survival and that of a post apocalyptic society.
